WATER

Africa faces economic water scarcity due to a depleted institutional, financial and human capacities of managing water. Competing priorities for public funding across sectors, coupled with a heavy public debt further weakens water provision capacities. This is further exacerbated by Africa’s rising population driving further demand for water and accelerating the degradation of water resources in many countries.

According to UN 40% of the 783 million people with no access to clean and safe water worldwide come from Sub-Saharan Africa. Over 319 million people from Sub-Saharan Africa have no access to clean water. According to World Health Organization, for every $1 invested in Water and Sanitation, there is a corresponding economic return of between $3 and $34. By investing in water alone, young children worldwide can gain more than 413 million days of health. United Nations estimates that sub-Saharan Africa alone loses 40 Billion hours annually, collecting water.

Africa Investment and Development understands the significant role of water in accomplishing Africa’s sustainable development goals. Water is a fundamental Human Right. ADI supports projects that enhances access to water and water related initiatives, targeting both rural and urban populations. We priorities water and sanitation, treatment and supply of clean water and water-harvesting through dam construction and irrigation services.

ENERGY

As the global perspective shifts towards provision of more clean, sustainable and renewable sources of energy, Africa is still grappling with power shortages.

Hundreds of millions of people have attained modern energy access over the last two decades, notably in China and India. Rapid economic development in several developing nations and increasing urbanization has been attributed to this trend. However, according to World Energy Outlook 2016, of the estimated 1.2 Billion – approximately 16% of the global population without access to electricity, 95% live in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

Africa Development and Investment bridges the gap between African Private/Public organizations and global players interested in the renewable energy sector. ADI provides accurate data and risk analysis for organizations that are interested in investing in Africa’s energy sector through market feasibility studies and policy analysis in target areas. ADI is well known for its effective data collection, from literature and field research, the development of business and bankable business plans and the identification of business partners in the target countries.

AGRICULTURE

Agriculture is the mainstay of many African countries economic development. Any adverse climate conditions affect Africa’s ability to feed herself. ADI supports the development of a high yield agriculture system through drought relief mitigation measures, modern farming practices and irrigation. Through working with Country Investment Partnerships, ADI assists local and national governments in building the capacities of both peasant and commercial farmers in order to boost the agriculture yield through conservative and modern farming techniques.

TRANSPORT

Transport is a fundamental key economic-driver that unlocks investment opportunities across Africa. Africa Development and Investment supports Africa’s quest for a world-class transport system through cost-effective bankable infrastructure development including rail system, smart highways, airports, harbors, bridges and tunnels. Emphasis is placed on critical Built Operate and Transfer, (BOT) projects which enhances regional and continental trade corridors.

MINING

From Cape to Cairo, Africa is endowed with natural resources, yet it remains one of the poorest global economies. Why? Africa should never be a poor continent. ADI supports local and national governments to enhance the natural resource value chain. This is done through the development of processing centers at extraction level. For Africa remains and extractive sector, shipping raw minerals abroad, no meaningful development will be realized from her mineral resources.
